Let’s De-Stress. Mind, Body, & Skin
15 APRIL 2020
Today, I will not stress over things I can’t control.
Social distancing and isolation has changed the way we live and sudden changes can affect our mental health. We want to remind you that you are not alone. We are probably feeling very similar emotions, so we wanted to share the ways we like to de-stress. Here is how we are coping with our current situation.
Mind - Inhale Courage, Exhale Fear
This is a big one, how we think controls how we feel. Fill your mind with good things. Here are a few quotes helping us through this uncertain time, we hope it helps you too.
"Take comfort in your resilient, brilliant soul. The light within will never die."
- Kris Franken
"For the one facing new unknowns: You are entering an all new territory. Be patient with yourself as you’re learning. Even when others are not patient with you, remember what is true: No one is traveling perfectly. We all hold both strength and struggle. Even the ones who seem to be the most prepared are learning new things along the way.So when you feel overwhelmed by the unknowns, ask, What can I learn here? And perhaps, you will still grow no matter the things you fear."
- Morgan Harper Nichols
"My heart will not be afraid … I will remain confident."
- Psalm 27:3
If you are feeling overwhelmed and with nowhere to turn, please reach out to one of these incredible organisations. No matter how big or how small your problem feels, there is always someone to talk to. Beyond Blue or Lifeline are beautiful organisations created to support and help anyone achieve their best possible health.
Body - Create Healthy Habits
Finding a routine is how we cope with the isolation. If you aren’t grounding yourself to a simple routine you may be causing yourself unnecessary stress. As humans we need a rhythm, structure is our friend. It’s been a few weeks, so it’s safe to say you got the binge watching, sleeping in and staying up to all hours of the night out of your system. Now it’s time to move on and stick to a routine. Knowing what your plan is everyday will take the pressure off and allow you to focus on the good, simple things.
Here’s our suggestions:
- Wake up at the same time Monday to Friday. Whether you are working from home or have extra time on your hands, this consistency is for your wellbeing.
- MOVE! Go outside, breathe the fresh air and walk or run (within the confines of the social distancing rules of course). Another idea? Start easy at home workouts. At the minimum, stretch everyday.
- Eat breakfast, lunch AND dinner. No skipping meals, or just having a chocolate bar for lunch. Make healthier choices during meal time and you will see your energy boost.
Also, this is the perfect time to cut off those old bad habits and create new healthy ones. Whether you pick your skin, bite your nails or sneak too much sugar… use this time to become a better you!
Skin - Selfcare is our isolation BFF
Stress can cause unwanted breakouts, but our tips on preventing them involves finding the right products and sticking to the routine. In our last Journal post we went over our ‘Go-To’ skincare routine, it’s the perfect place to start if you haven’t used our products before. Click here to read it!
Another way to de-stress and bring selfcare to your time in isolation is a relaxing bath. Start running the water, squeeze a few drops of our Essential Oils into the warm bath and hop in. Maybe bring a good book or your drink of choice. Release all the tension in your body and allow yourself to be immersed into the rich aromatherapy oils that will melt you into a place of peaceful relaxation all while your skin is being hydrated. Sounds like heaven on earth!
Want to take this at home treatment to the next level? Use our Sea Salt Scrub all over and buff away all dead skin cells, revealing soft smooth skin. Also, put on a face mask to complete the experience. We have two options depending on the type of treatment your skin needs. Firming Rejuvenation Mask or Non-Surgical Face Lift.
Let’s de-stress and clear our minds, tag us in your home treatments or share your de-stressing ideas with us! We will get through this together.
